cbc wrote about tourists being turned away, i also know some locals (taking their parents from out of town) that were turned away.. lake louise is a canadian gem and a "must see" for locals and tourists.
I'm talking about Peyto Lake above.
I'd recommend checking Heart Creek for a hike in Kananaskis (directly off HWY 1) if you are traveling between Calgary and Banff. If looking for some beautiful hikes taking a trip down HWY 40 into Kananaskis gives lots of options and will be significantly less busy than Banff.

What a great place!
With kids its a nice little hike for hugely impressive views.
Park can be a little chaotic but parking on the road tends to make things a little easier.
Don't be afraid to go a little further down the trail as the views just get better.

not necessarily but i have picked up items over the years that have fallen apart and others that have worked great.
I have a Ruff Wear Mt. Bachelor Pad Dog Bed which has been fantastic and indispensable for travelling throughout the mountains.

The bottom is a tough nylon and the top is a soft fleece with nylon edging. It has thin padding for comfort which still lays flat. I have another dog bed at home that the middle padding has balled up and gone bumpy.
We place the dog bed on top of all our duffel bags in the back of our SUV and our dog has a nice place to sleep during the car journey.
If there are times when we need to make a stop for our kids and the ground is a little dirty our Ruff Wear dog bed can go on the ground to keep our kids and pups paws clean. The nylon bottom barely holds on to dirt, a quick shake or wipe takes it off.
When we go to the beach the bed rolls up and secures with hook and loop straps which makes it easy to strap to a backpack.
Dog hair easily sweeps off which is nice when we need to use it as an impromptu baby change table or picnic blanket.
5 stars for this product. Would buy again if this ever wears out, although with the quality of the materials that seems unlikely.

I used to ride a Cannondale Jekyll Mountain bike with a Rock Shox Totem Solo Air. This setup looks great because of the nice raked out look. Riding descents was good but climbing was tough. Any time the trail became too steep the front tire began to hop up because of the rake of the geometry. Very fun but I knew it could be better.
Recently I upgraded to a 2015 Giant Trance 27.5 1 and wow what a difference. The Patagonia Better Sweater is, was, will be a better sweater regardless of who you compare it against. I have one from 2010 and 2015. There doesn't seem to be much of a difference between the versions but the newer sweater collar has been raised and a chest pocket added. To make it the best sweater the collar needs to be lowered again. Keeping the chest pocket is a must. Miss the pocket on the old one but prefer the low collar.
This is a great piece to take traveling, throw over a collared shirt on a casual evening or wear over a base layer if you want to go get radical.
The sweater is so nice though that you won't want to get it too dirty...
